Poppy - a Pupdate

Poppy has now mastered her basic 'sit' and 'down' commands, although sometimes she tries to be too clever and goes straight to 'down' in anticipation!

She has improved her confidence when walking alongside heavy traffic and only large lorries or tractors tend to spook her, although this will disappear as her confidence continues to grow.

The biggest challenge for Poppy is that she's very friendly and easily distracted by people. She loves to say 'hello' and greet everyone who offers her a hand. But it's important to realise that when a puppy is wearing their Guide Dog Puppy training blue bib, they are working and no matter how cute they are, you really shouldn't distract them.

Poppy has also been learning valuable skills that will aid her future owner. This includes the command 'touch' where Poppy will rest her nose against an outstretched hand so her owner knows where she is. She can also now 'find a chair' and locate empty seats in a cafe or room for her owner to sit on.

Poppy is still very playful and cheeky, which is lovely to see as she is still a puppy. She especially loves her blue kong toy which she will fetch if you ask her to.

She's very well behaved when we go to the supermarket and she loves going on the train too. She has a very curious personality and nothing goes unnoticed by Poppy! Keep an eye on this page as her next Pupdate will be in February 2019.
