Newark is 11th busiest property market in 2020

The busiest property markets of 2020 have been revealed, with small towns taking the top spots as buyers flooded out of cities during the pandemic.

Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, had the highest rate of property purchases in England and Wales, followed by Pontefract, West Yorkshire and Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. While Newark came in at 11th!

Mortgage broker Haysto analysed Government data to work out the figures, which are based on the number of house purchases per 10,000 people in the area's population.

We have seen buyers searching for property in the Newark and Southwell area who have moved further away from big cities in the past year in search of larger homes, larger gardens and a better work-life balance.

Newark is particularly popular with buyers wanting to move out of the cities as it offers an excellent standard of living with a vibrant market town, good schools and recreational facilities and is also located perfectly to reach the capital or head north on the East Coast Mainline. East/west commuting is also made very easy by Newark's central location on the A1 Great North Road and the A46.

No wonder people want to live here!
